Chiropractors are healthcare professionals who specialize in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal disorders, with a particular focus on the spine. They often take a holistic, hands-on approach to care, using manual techniques, including spinal manipulation (commonly known as spinal adjustments), to address issues such as back pain, neck pain, headaches, and joint discomfort.

The foundational philosophy behind chiropractic care is that the body has an innate ability to heal itself, and that proper spinal alignment is crucial to the nervous system’s optimal functioning. Chiropractors often work to restore this alignment and balance through non-invasive treatments, aiming to reduce pain, improve mobility, and enhance overall health.

While chiropractic treatment is commonly associated with musculoskeletal issues, some chiropractors may also offer additional services, such as lifestyle advice, exercise therapy, nutrition counseling, and physical rehabilitation. Chiropractors undergo extensive education and training, including earning a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree, which typically involves undergraduate education followed by four years at an accredited chiropractic college.

There are different approaches within the chiropractic profession. Some practitioners emphasize traditional manual adjustments, while others may integrate more contemporary techniques like soft tissue therapy, electrical stimulation, or therapeutic exercises. Chiropractors are often sought by patients looking for alternatives to more invasive treatments like surgery or long-term medication use.
